1. Create a New Sequence

  • Steps:
    1. Go to the File menu, choose New > Sequence.
    2. In the New Sequence Dialog Box, select a preset that matches your media or customize the settings.
    3. Click OK.
  • Shortcut:
    • Ctrl+N (Windows) or Cmd+N (Mac).

2. Add Clips to a Sequence

  • Steps:
    1. Drag clips from the Project Panel into the Timeline Panel.
    2. Place the clips in the desired track and order.
  • Shortcut:
    • Drag and drop, or use the Insert (,) or Overwrite (.) shortcuts.

3. Remove Clips from a Sequence

  • Steps:
    1. Select the clip(s) in the timeline.
    2. Press Delete to remove them.
    3. Use Ripple Delete to automatically close the gap: Right-click > Ripple Delete.
  • Shortcut:
    • Delete or Shift+Delete (Ripple Delete).

4. Move Clips in a Sequence

  • Steps:
    1. Select a clip in the timeline.
    2. Drag it to the desired position.
    3. Use the Track Select Forward Tool (shortcut A) to select all forward clips for repositioning.
  • Shortcut:
    • Alt+Drag (Windows) or Option+Drag (Mac) to duplicate while moving.

5. Make Simple Audio Adjustments

  • Steps:
    1. Select the audio clip in the timeline.
    2. Open the Audio Clip Mixer or Effect Controls Panel.
    3. Adjust the levels, pan, or add keyframes for precise changes.
  • Shortcut:
    • G opens the Audio Gain dialog box.
    • Use the + or - keys to zoom in/out on the audio waveform.

6. Work with Graphics and Titles

  • Steps:
    1. Open the Essential Graphics Panel from Window > Essential Graphics.
    2. Use pre-built templates or create custom graphics.
    3. Drag and position them in the Program Monitor and adjust in the timeline.
  • Shortcut:
    • Ctrl+T (Windows) or Cmd+T (Mac) creates a new text layer.

7. Import Photoshop Graphics

    1. Go to File > Import and select the Photoshop file (.PSD).
    2. Choose to import as Merged Layers, Individual Layers, or as a Sequence.
    3. Drag the imported file into the timeline for use.

8. Create Custom Color Looks

  • Steps:
    1. Select the clip in the timeline.
    2. Go to Window > Lumetri Color to open the Lumetri Color Panel.
    3. Adjust settings in Basic Correction, Creative, or other tabs.
    4. Save your adjustments as a preset for reuse.

9. Apply Preset Effects

  • Steps:
    1. Go to the Effects Panel.
    2. Drag a preset onto your clip in the timeline.
    3. Adjust the parameters in the Effect Controls Panel if needed.

10. Apply Video Transitions

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Effects > Video Transitions.
    2. Drag a transition onto the cut point between two clips.
    3. Adjust the duration and alignment in the timeline.
  • Shortcut:
    • Ctrl+D (Windows) or Cmd+D (Mac) applies the default transition.

11. Apply Video Effects

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Effects > Video Effects.
    2. Drag an effect onto a clip in the timeline.
    3. Adjust parameters in the Effect Controls Panel.

12. Apply Audio Transitions

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Effects > Audio Transitions.
    2. Drag a transition to the beginning, end, or between audio clips.
  • Shortcut:
    • Shift+Ctrl+D (Windows) or Shift+Cmd+D (Mac) applies the default audio transition.

13. Apply Audio Effects

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Effects > Audio Effects.
    2. Drag an effect onto an audio clip.
    3. Use the Effect Controls Panel for adjustments.

Additional Tips:

  • Undo Mistakes: Use Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Z (Mac) to undo.
  • Zooming in/out Timeline: Use the + or - keys.
  • Snapping Clips: Toggle snapping with S.
