1. Selecting Objects
1.1. Basic Selection Techniques
- Selection Tool (V): Click on an object to select it. Hold Shift to select multiple objects.
- Direct Selection Tool (A): Click on anchor points or path segments to select and manipulate specific parts of an object.
1.2. Advanced Selection Techniques
- Lasso Tool: Draw a freeform selection around objects.
- Magic Wand Tool: Select objects with similar attributes (color, stroke weight, etc.) by clicking on one of them.
1.3. Using the Selection Tools
- Select Menu: Use the Select menu for options like Select All, Deselect, and Inverse Selection.
- Layers Panel: Select objects directly from the Layers panel for better organization.
2. Transforming Objects
2.1. Moving and Resizing
- Move Tool: Click and drag to move objects. Hold Shift to constrain movement to horizontal or vertical.
- Bounding Box: Use the handles on the bounding box to resize objects. Hold Shift to maintain proportions.
2.2. Rotating and Reflecting
- Rotate Tool (R): Click and drag to rotate objects around a reference point. Hold Alt (Option on Mac) to rotate around the center.
- Reflect Tool (O): Click to create a mirror image of the object across a specified axis.
2.3. Skewing and Distorting
- Shear Tool: Skew objects by dragging along the axis you want to distort.
- Free Transform Tool (E): Use this tool to scale, rotate, and skew objects simultaneously.
2.4. Transforming with the Transform Panel
- Transform Panel: Access precise transformations by entering values for position, scale, rotation, and more.
3. Combining Objects
3.1. Grouping Objects
- Group (Ctrl + G / Cmd + G): Select multiple objects and group them to move or transform them as a single unit.
- Ungroup (Ctrl + Shift + G / Cmd + Shift + G): Break a group back into individual objects.
3.2. Using the Pathfinder Panel
- Pathfinder Panel: Combine shapes using options like Unite, Minus Front, Intersect, and Exclude.
- Shape Modes: Use the Shape Modes to create complex shapes from simpler ones.
3.3. Clipping Masks
- Create Clipping Mask: Select an object to act as a mask and the objects to be masked, then right-click and choose "Make Clipping Mask."
- Release Clipping Mask: Right-click on the masked object and select "Release Clipping Mask" to revert to the original objects.

- Layers Concept: Layers help organize artwork, allowing you to separate different elements for easier editing.
